Homecoming 08
15 years ago a very special little girl made her appearance at the beginning of homecoming and came home on homecoming. Ever since that year, we have made it to the homecoming game and made a big deal out of it. Many of those years, her birthday fell during homecoming. This year however homecoming came 2 weeks early. That didn't stop us from celebrating. Sarah now has a more active role in the entire week. As both a cheerleader and member of the Royal River King Marching Band, she has been very active this week. Many assemblies, a community pep rally, a parade, decorating the field, commons, and Yourd gym, selling spirit items during the breakfast and finally marching at halftime and then managing the team to a Victory. This was the first time that Clinton has beat Assumption in 20 years and the first homecoming victory in a couple of years. Congrats to Kurt, Sarah, and the rest of the River King team on their awesome Victory over Assumption 14-7

Menu Plan Monday
I have been planning my menus for a couple of years now. Really makes my life so much easier. I found this site I'm an Organizing Junkie that regularly posts menus on Monday and encourages others to link to their site. I thought it would be fun to do this and maybe I could even pick up a few extra menu ideas. Here is my menu, however I usually do it for a two week time period as we shop every other weekend.
14 Sunday pizza hut pasta
15 Monday Sloppy joes
16 Tuesday Salisbury Steak
17 Wednesday Chicken from HyVee
18 Thursday chicken dumpling soup
19 Friday FB game, on your own
20 Saturday
Hamburgers
21 Sunday
Grill
22 Monday Hungarian Goulash
23 Tuesday Chicken Alfredo
24 Wednesday Beef Stew
25 Thursday Chicken Gravy
26 Friday FB game on your own

Clinton vs. Bettendorf
All of the freshman cheerleaders are required to sell programs at one varsity football game. Friday night was the night that Sarah was assigned to sell the programs. She wasn't happy because she couldn't help Dad for the first half of the Sophomore game. I know she wasn't thrilled about this, but for the people that like to have a program she provided a valuable service. She was able to rejoin the football team during the 3rd quarter. Shortly after getting on the field she was required to tape someone up since Dad was busy in the locker room with the varsity team. I am sure he feels better knowing that both Sarah and John are on the field when he has to be inside. Even though Clinton lost the game it was fun to see an old friend. The first High school trainer in Iowa used to work for Bettendorf and he was at the game. He was one of the reason I got into athletic training way back when. Clinton ended up losing the game to Bettendorf 35-14.

Reading Adventures
Today was the annual Reading Adventures. I have been taking the girls since they were very little. Sarah has grown up and no longer goes, but Kristen still loves to go. Today even though the weather was cool and rainy, we left right after church to head down. I received a call from a good friend on the way down who wanted to meet up for lunch and then take all 3 kids to Reading Adventures. We haven't seen these friends since May when Sarah was confirmed. They moved away not quite a year ago and the kids really miss each other. Her 2 kids were thrilled to see Kristen again. Any way despite the rain and cool weather, we had a great time. Kristen picked out a book from the Disney Fairies Series. She also choose a Scottish troll doll. The kids made Dinosaur crafts and rode on a hayride. We didn't do the blow up things, because one of the other kids had just broken her arm and because of all of the mud. I hadn't planned on letting Kristen do these this year as I didn't want muddy wet socks coming home. After leaving the fairgrounds, Kristen and I headed to Sam's Club to pick my card and then a few snack items for the family. All in all a good girl bonding day.
Sorry no pictures, for some reason I forgot to grab my camera, and I always have it with me.

Too much homework
Sarah has been doing really well in school this year. All of her classes are at an A or higher. She is really concerned about making sure that she gets her homework done. I think our cat "Kitty" also thinks that she is spending way too much time on her homework. She was at the kitchen table working away on her Spanish this afternoon, when he jumped up on the table, walked over to her book and paper and curled up. He then started to meow and beg Sarah to pet him. She gave him a couple of minutes of attention and then put him on the floor. About 3 minutes later, he jumped back up on the table and curled up on top of her Spanish book. He must think that his needs are more important than Sarah learning to speak Espanol.

Go team Go
I am posting several pictures of Sarah's first game as a cheerleader. The squad did an excellent job and you could see them relaxing as the game went on. After the team scores they do push ups for the number of points that the team has. So in order, they did 8 then 16, then 24 and finally 32 push ups for a total of 80 push ups tonight. I think their arms will be a little sore tomorrow. I am also posting one picture of Kristen. Please pray for me as I am going to be in serious trouble with this child. The picture doesn't show things right, but she was surrounded by about 8 little boys at one point. If she is already into boys at the old age of 8 what is going to happen when she is in high school?
