On the way home tonight, totally out of the blue Kristen springs the announcement/question. Mom are you the Easter bunny? I think you are and then she recited several different reasons why I must be the Easter Bunny/Toothfairy/Santa Claus all rolled into one. Of course as she was reciting her reasons for believing that I was all of these wonderful mythological figures rolled into one, it came to light that she had been doing some snooping before Christmas and found some of her presents. In some ways this will make things a little bit easier, but yet some of the childhood fun has gone away. I do need to talk with her now about how much fun she had believing and that she wants to allow her baby cousins and younger friends the joy of believing.
I guess it is official, my baby girl is growing up, no longer a little girl, but becoming a tween all the way through.

Easter
Okay, I didn't do very well this year with the traditional picture taking. I think the surprise snow threw me for a loop. You can at least tell what the girls are wearing in these pictures. Yes, another girl showed up at church with the same dress on as Kristen. That is what happens when Mom doesn't sew the dress, but instead buys a Walmart special. Notice that we actually have Sarah in a skirt and dress top.
Merry Christmas err I mean Happy Easter

Shopping today
Since it is almost Easter it was necessary to take the family shopping. Kurt and Sarah had gift certificates from Kohls left over from Christmas. Kurt was looking for a new pair of pants and a nice dress shirt (pink) Sarah was looking for a dress (not by choice, but because I told her she had to get two new dresses this spring.) Kohl's had tons of junior clothes on clearance. We were lucky enough to find a nice black/gray/and white dress for only 7.60. Sarah actually claims to like the dress. She also found a pink, white, and black skirt with a pink top that she likes. This outfit was a 60 dollar outfit on sale for only 32.00. I love it when I can get a good deal on clothes. Her gift certificate then picked up some of the cost. She will wear the pink skirt and top for Easter and the Black and white dress for Confirmation. What luck to find dressy clothes that dad and I like plus that Sarah likes and says she will wear. Time will tell. Kurt was able to find a new pair of dress slacks but not the top he was looking for. All that is available right now is long sleeve and he doesn't like long sleeve shirts. We will continue to look for a new shirt for him. Next we had promised Kristen a pair of sneakers. Her's had gotten so horrible, the velcro was actually worn off of the straps. I buy her shoes at Payless Shoes. I can't see spending a ton of money for shoes that she will either ruin or outgrow in a couple of months. I found a pair of shoes for only 16.00, at first glance she didn't like them, until she saw the brand name "Hannah Montana" then she was in love and had to have them. Thankfully they were the cheapest pair in her size. I then went to Fashion Bug where they were having a buy one get one for a 1.00. I love that sale, especially when everything that I buy is on clearance except for one item. I ended up with 2 tops, 1 dressy blouse, 1 skirt, 1 pair of cords, and 1 pair of linen type lightweight pants for spring and summer. Total for all 6 pieces was only 60.00, yeah 10 dollars a piece. Now that is a good deal in my opinion. So now we all have something nice and new to wear for Easter services this Sunday. I will post pictures of everyone in their new outfits in a few days.

Productive Monday
Since it is Spring Break I have a couple of goals for this week.
1. Is to get some work done around the house and declutter things.
2. To get some scrapbooking time and relaxing time in.
So today I was able to clean up a little in the kitchen and then sorted through about 4 boxes of clothes from the basement. This resulted in 2 large 33 gallon garbage bags of outgrown clothes for Salvation Army a huge stack of clothes for Kristen and one box full of clothes that she will grow into yet. Of course still more to do.
Also managed to rearrange Kristen's room to make it a tad easier for her to get into the room and open her closet. Her room is so small that there really isn't much you can do with it.
I also spent some time working on my puzzle swaps and finished group 1 and got 1/2 way through group 2's. Plan to finish the rest tomorrow afternoon and then put it in the mail.
I have promised the girls that if they help really well in the morning they can have the afternoon and evening to play.

Family Day

Lazy Sundays
Today has been great. After attending church we were all able to come home for the rest of the day. No one had to go anywhere. It is not often that we have a day so relaxing and peaceful. Since we had daylight savings time change, it gave us a chance to catch up on some sleep for a few. Sarah had to babysit until 1:30, so she really needed the rest. We have been laying around the house, watching an old movie on Disney channel and then some of their new shows, plus I have been able to get a little scrapping done. I am currently in the middle of a puzzle swap. I have one piece of puzzle from 12 different puzzles and will be decorating them according to the recipient's chosen theme. This has been fun and also a challenge of sorts. I have had to think about topics that I normally wouldn't do. Some of the people will put their puzzles together and others are going to use the pieces as embellishment on a scrapbook page.
We need to find a way to simplify our lives so that we can enjoy more relaxing days as a family.

Good bye Toothfairy
In the midst of Kristen's struggles with a fever and the flu, she lost a tooth. Of course the toothfairy came that night and left her two dollars in change (she had to many stops to make and didn't have any small bills left) So last night, all of the sudden Kristen turns to me and tells me that I need to be quieter when I count my money, because she could hear me. First she slips about thinking that we are Santa, now she mentions something about me being the Toothfairy. It looks like we are done with the legendary figures in my house for many years to come. While I am excited to see my girls growing up, I miss some of the simple little things from the early years.

Tinkerbell notebook
It came in the mail
I received the coolest package in the mail yesterday. I had signed up for a one-one composition swap. You filled out a small questionaire with questions like favorite color, favorite disney character, scrapbooking style etc. We then received someone else's questionaire and were to design a composition book for that person. The person that I received loved Tinkerbell and pinks and purples so I made her a cute little tinkerbell book that Sarah fell in love with. I had said that I might use my journal to plan for our trip to St. Louis this summer. The person who had my name did an outstanding job on the journal. I just love it, she is so creative and included elements that I hadn't even thought of. It is so fun and easy to make these composition notebooks, I plan on creating several more.
